JOB TITLE: Staff Accountant
REPORTS TO: Controller ANTICIPATED SALARY RANGE: $ 70,000 – 75,000; plus, the UVM Foundation’s progressive benefits package, which includes: a comprehensive health plan; dental, vision, and life insurance; a robust paid time off package; a 403(b) plan with immediate vesting and contributions; and tuition remission. Actual hiring pay dependent on current competitor market conditions, comparable employee peer(s) at time of hire, and candidate’s experience level and length. This position is classified at the Assistant Director level within the UVM Foundation classification structure.   EFFECTIVE DATE: October 15, 2026, or a negotiated date agreed upon by both parties FTE: Full-Time LOCATION: Burlington, Vermont JOB-TYPE/HOURS: On-site   JOB SUMMARY   The UVM Foundation is seeking a highly detail-oriented and solutions-focused team player to join our team. The Staff Accountant will help execute vendor disbursements, expenses, cash receipts, and bank deposit strategies in support of the business goals of the UVM Foundation. This position will also focus on payroll processing and maintaining employee records in our HCM system. The Staff Accountant must have strong technical aptitude and be proficient with MS Excel. The person in this role must understand the importance of effective and efficient financial operations in advancing the Foundation’s mission and supporting the philanthropic goals of our donors.     ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 35%     Travel & entertainment administration and reporting 20%     Cash receipts and daily transaction processing 20%     Payroll and benefit administration 15%     Accounts payable and expense reporting 10%     Special projects and other work as assigned   MINIMUM SKILLS & ABILITIES MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE   Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Experience with bookkeeping, cash receipts, travel and entertainment card management and payroll/benefits, ideally within in a higher education business office or similar non-profit. Ability to independently create spreadsheets using large data sets. Or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable skill mastery has been achieved.
