- Prepare, review, and finalize monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for a portfolio of managed properties in accordance with GAAP and client requirements.
- Ensure accurate and timely month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, allocations, and intercompany postings.
- Review general ledger activity to ensure proper coding by property, entity, and ownership structure.
- Maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations and analyze actual vs. budget variances and provide clear explanations for ownership and asset managers.
- Ensure compliance with management agreements, client reporting standards, and lender requirements.
- Prepare and review owner distributions, equity contributions, and capital transactions.
- Respond to client questions regarding financials with professionalism, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Oversee cash management activities including bank reconciliations, reserve tracking, and cash flow analysis.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and explanations.
- Coordinate with tax providers on annual returns, property tax reconciliations, and required filings.
- Oversee the activities of a team of staff accountants reviewing their work for accuracy and timely dissemination of financial management reports.
- Communicate with clients as needed for financial reporting and ensure funding requests are presented in an accurate and timely manner to ensure adequate funding and vendor and bill payment.
- Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compiles a variety of special reports and work closely with the Accounting Manager
- Perform all other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- Minimum 3-5 years in a similar position.
- Proven success in managing a team of 3-5 staff accountants, ensuring the preparation and submission of monthly financials accurately, on or before deadlines.
- Preferred experience within the property management industry
- Frequently sit, stand and walk.
- Regularly required to talk or hear.
- Frequently required to use hands or fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
- Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Vision abilities to include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Temperature in the workplace is typically moderate, though the ability to withstand seasonal cold and heat of the outdoors is necessary.
- Travel up to 10% of the time.
