Senior Accountant

HornBill has a client who is seeking a Senior Accountant to join a growing team right outside of Baltimore, Maryland (MD). This opportunity is with a dynamic company that has a brand-new office space and employ some of the best in Baltimore. Responsibilities include:

• Manage the processing of cash receipts, recording of revenue and receivables and work closely with Operations team to ensure that revenues and receivables are reconciled
• Perform the processing of benefits expense allocations, monthly accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, fixed assets depreciation and recording of adjusting and reclassification journal entries, if necessary
• Perform general account analyses and reconciliations, including bank accounts, fixed assets, employer's benefit costs, AR reserves, accruals and prepaid expenses
• Prepare schedules for quarterly and annual regulatory filings
• Assist with annual audit, preparing audit schedules and compiling support for general ledger transactions
• Identify areas for improvements in accounting processes and workflows in order to reduce cycle-times and improve accuracy
• Other duties and ad hoc projects as required

• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience; including journal entry preparation and posting, monthly financial statement preparation, account reconciliations and financial analysis and reporting
• Insurance industry experience is a plus
• Must possess a solid understanding of GAAP accounting and have strong analytical skills and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced financial close schedule
• Must have excellent Excel skills and the ability to organize, analyze and report large amounts of financial data
• Demonstrate attention to details and good record-keeping
• Must be a team player and have the ability and willingness to collaborate with other teams in the organization
