Senior Accountant - Financial Reporting

HornBill has a client in search of a Senior Accountant - Financial Reporting in Arlington, VA. Summary: Our client has an opening for a Senior Accountant position in their Financial Reporting group. The Financial Reporting Department is responsible for all corporate and joint venture/hotel ownership external reporting, significant portion of internal financial reporting, technical accounting, accounting policies, internal controls over financial reporting, and significant accounting projects. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Assist with monthly corporate consolidated financial reporting, including preparation and review of the consolidated financial statements and fluctuation analysis for reporting to management, owners, and lenders
• Assist with corporate year-end audit including preparation and review of the financial statements and footnote disclosures, assemble and maintain adequate support documentation for all information included in the annual report, and provide assistance to external auditors
• Prepare/review monthly financial reporting for joint ventures; This includes responsibility for consolidation and preparation of the monthly partnership financial reporting packages including financial statements, reporting schedules, financial and operating analyses of hotel operations, and JV tax reporting
• Assist in the audits of joint ventures and benefit plans; This includes preparation and review of the audited financial statements and footnote disclosures and coordination with hotel finance & operations, benefits, and Shared Service Center teams, as well as external auditors
• Participate in and lead cross functional accounting process improvement and documentation of initiatives
• Research complex accounting transactions and valuation matters; Participate in new accounting standard implementation projects at corporate and managed hotel level
• Ad hoc analysis and reporting to senior management and outside partners

• Bachelor's in Accounting, CPA preferred
• 2+ years of relevant work experience at a public accounting firm, publicly traded company, hospitality, service or global company
• Good interpersonal skills and strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills
• Accounting process improvement or implementation project management skills a plus
• Joint venture/ownership reporting skills a plus
• Experience with Lawson/Infor accounting software, TM1/IBM Cognos a plus
