Junior Accountant - Full-Time, Permanent

Location: Edmonton Corporate Office Work Arrangement: 100% in-office (no remote or hybrid work).

Summary

The Running Room Group of Companies is seeking a detail-oriented and eager-to-learn Junior Accountant to join our Accounting and Finance team. This role is ideal for someone who has foundational accounting experience and is looking to expand their skills and take on new challenges in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.  You’ll work closely with other experienced team members and cross-functional departments to support accurate financial reporting and day-to-day accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities

Working under the guidance of the Controller and alongside other Accountants, you will support the team in the following:

Assist with daily accounting tasks, including journal entries, general ledger postings, and account reconciliations. Support month-end and year-end closing processes. Help compile financial information for internal reporting and external accountants. Help investigate and resolve discrepancies or variances in financial data. Apply Canadian GAAP to support accurate financial records. Respond to accounting inquiries and provide support to internal departments. Contribute to variance analysis. Participate in process improvements and learn best practices from senior team members. Other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Diploma or degree in accounting. Working knowledge of full-cycle accounting. Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and Word. Experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar accounting software is an asset. Willingness to work evenings or weekends as required by deadlines.
