The Role

The Financial Analyst works alongside the Controller on our Epicor ERP implementation, on sub-ledger and month-end close support, and on the reporting and analysis that guide decisions as the company scales from pre-commercial operations into full production. The role provides the analytical and project capacity needed to strengthen financial systems, internal controls, and reporting during a period of rapid change.

This is a hands-on role with real breadth, well suited to an accounting or finance professional who wants exposure well beyond a single sub-ledger and is comfortable building a process where none exists yet.

Reports to: Controller

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Epicor ERP implementation, including data validation, testing, cutover, and user documentation; build reports and queries and act as the day-to-day finance resource for system questions.
• Prepare month-end and quarter-end working papers, account reconciliations, recurring journal entries, and fixed asset, depreciation, and stock option schedules for Controller review.
• Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations, maintain schedules that tie sub-ledgers to the general ledger, and support segregation-of-duties requirements within the finance team.
• Prepare recurring and ad hoc management reporting with draft variance commentary.
• Prepare analysis to support pricing, cost, capital, and make-versus-buy decisions as production scales.
• Support the annual budget and reforecast cycles and short-term cash flow forecasting.
• Track SR&ED, RDII, SRF, and other cost pools; maintain audit-ready documentation and assist with claims and program reporting, including FedDev.
• Assist with year-end audit schedules, quarterly lender compliance and borrowing support, and information requests from auditors, lenders, and government programs.
• Help document finance processes, controls, and desk procedures, and flag control gaps to the Controller.
• Streamline credit card controls, procedures, and reconciliation, and review vendor and software spend to identify savings and consolidation opportunities.
• Identify process improvements and automate recurring reporting to reduce manual effort and close time.
• Work with operations, production, purchasing, R&D, and HR to obtain the information needed for accurate reporting, and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, commerce, or business administration; or a college diploma in accounting or finance combined with equivalent progressive experience.
• Enrolment in, or active progression toward, the CPA designation (CPA PEP) is an asset. Equispheres supports continued professional development toward designation.
• Coursework or practical exposure to IFRS reporting is an asset.

Minimum Requirements

• Three to five years of progressive experience in accounting and financial planning and analysis.
• Working knowledge of Epicor or demonstrated hands-on experience with a mid-market ERP (e.g., NetSuite). Participation in an ERP implementation or system conversion is a strong asset.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and multi-tab workbooks and models.
• Ability to organize competing priorities and meet firm close, audit, and reporting deadlines.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain financial results to non-financial colleagues.
• Legally entitled to work in Canada.

• Collaborative and approachable across departments and levels, with a high degree of personal integrity and professional ethics.

Work Environment

• Office environment within an advanced manufacturing facility, with occasional time on the plant floor.
• Periods of increased workload around month-end, quarter-end, budget, audit, and ERP milestones.
• Primarily on-site in Ottawa, with flexibility considered in accordance with company practice.

Compensation, Term, and Location

• Annual salary range of $72,000 to $88,000, with placement based on experience, ERP proficiency, and progress toward a professional designation.
• RRSP matching to 4% of salary, a comprehensive benefits plan, a share options plan, and support continuing education.
• Full time, indeterminate / existing vacancy. Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
