Senior Accountant

HornBill has a client outside the Baltimore, Maryland (MD) area who has an immediate need for an experienced Senior Accountant. Responsibilities include:

• Manage the processing of cash receipts, recording of revenue and receivables and work closely with the operations team to ensure that revenues and receivables are reconciled
• Perform the processing of benefits expense allocations, monthly accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, fixed assets depreciation and recording of adjusting and reclassification journal entries, if necessary
• Perform general account analyses and reconciliations, including bank accounts, fixed assets, employer's benefit costs, AR reserves, accruals and prepaid expenses
• Prepare schedules for quarterly and annual regulatory filings
• Assist with annual audit, preparing audit schedules and compiling support for general ledger transactions
• Identify areas for improvements in accounting processes and workflows in order to reduce cycle-times and improve accuracy
• Other duties and ad hoc projects as required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience
• Must possess a solid understanding of GAAP accounting and have strong analytical skills and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced financial close schedule
• Must have excellent Excel skills and the ability to organize, analyze and report large amounts of financial data
• Be able to demonstrate attention to details and good record keeping
• Must be a team player and have the ability and willingness to collaborate with other teams in the organization
• High level of interpersonal skills with demonstrated poise and diplomacy
• Demonstrate a proficient level of professional skill and/or knowledge in accounting and keep current with developments and trends
• Knowledge and ability to use applicable information technology and systems to meet work needs
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management
• Have the flexibility to take on ad hoc assignments and have experience in the rapidly changing environments that accompany fast growing companies
