Senior Accountant

HornBill has a client outside of the Baltimore, Maryland (MD) area that is looking to add a talented Senior Accountant to their team. Responsibilities include:

• Prepare and record assets, liability, revenue and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information
• Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting reconciling transactions and resolving differences
• Participate in month end close process, preparing journal entries, performing account analysis/flux commentary and preparing balance sheet account reconciliations
• Under limited supervision, performs accounting assignments requiring competence in all conventional aspects of an accounting discipline
• Assist in the setup, maintenance and reconciliation of indirect cost pool allocations
• Work with other accounting organization functions, including payroll and accounts payable to ensure appropriate accounting treatments are used
• Ensure accounting practices and documentation procedures are in compliance with accepted accounting principles and company policies and procedures
• Analyze current accounting procedures and recommend and install more efficient procedures when necessary
• Assists in the development, testing and installation of accounting systems, methods, procedures and controls
• Assist with providing documentation for both internal and external auditor requests
• Applies sound professional judgment on details of work
• Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field or demonstrated equivalent
• CPA or MBA preferred
• 5+ years of professional developmental experience
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Working knowledge of work processing and integrated software applications
• Organizational skills and ability to perform detailed-oriented work required
