- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, with meaningful exposure to project accounting, job costing, or cost accounting in a project-based or construction/integration business environment.
- Working knowledge of percentage-of-completion revenue recognition and WIP accounting.
- Experience with ERP systems in a finance or accounting capacity; demonstrated ability to work within and extract data from an ERP environment.
- Strong Excel skills, including financial modeling, pivot tables, and the ability to build and maintain project cost tracking tools.
- High attention to detail and comfort managing multiple active projects simultaneously with competing deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills – this role requires building credibility with project managers and operations leaders, not just finance and accounting teammates.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment with limited supervision.
- Prior involvement in an ERP implementation or system migration, particularly in a project accounting or finance configuration role.
- Familiarity with Epicor Kinetic or similar project-centric ERP platforms (e.g., IFS, NetSuite, MS Dynamics BC).
- Experience with multi-state sales tax compliance and/or cross-border (U.S./Canada) tax considerations.
- Exposure to board-level or executive financial reporting.
- Experience in material handling, logistics automation, systems integration, engineering-to-order, or heavy construction business.
- Monitor and maintain financial records for all active projects, including budget-to-actual cost tracking, cost-at-completion forecasting, and margin analysis at the project level.
- Partner closely with project managers to review project cost performance, identify budget variances, and support proactive corrective action on at-risk projects.
- Support the monthly revenue recognition process (percentage-of-completion / cost-to-cost method) in accordance with GAAP including the preparation and review of POC calculations and related journal entries.
- Analyze project labor costs, subcontractor spending, material costs, and overhead allocations; flag variances and facilitate resolution with the relevant project or operations stakeholders.
- Assist in the preparation of project financial reporting for internal stakeholders, including project margin summaries, cost forecasts, and board-level financial inputs.
- Maintain and audit project budgets in the ERP system, ensuring accuracy of project setup, cost code structures, and phase-level cost tracking.
- Support change order financial analysis — assessing cost impact, margin analysis, and appropriate revenue recognition treatment.
- Actively participate in the monthly close process, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and project-related accruals.
- Prepare and review WIP schedules (overbillings and under billings) and ensure accurate balance sheet classification of project-related assets and liabilities.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with GAAP.
- Support multi-state sales tax compliance, including reviewing project taxability and assisting with monthly sales tax filings.
- Assist with internal and external audit requests, including preparation of project cost documentation and schedules.
- Serve as a core member of SNA's internal Epicor Kinetic implementation team, representing finance and project accounting interests throughout the configuration, testing, and go-live process.
- Work with Epicor implementation consultants to validate project accounting configuration — including WBS structure, cost code setup, revenue recognition methods, and period close workflows.
- Support data migration efforts, including review and reconciliation of historical project cost data being transitioned to the new system.
- Assist in developing and documenting new ERP-based workflows for project cost tracking, POC calculation, and financial reporting.
- Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) for project accounting and financial reporting modules.
- Support end-user training and adoption within the finance team post go-live.
- Most tasks, projects, and communication with clients, team members, and Managers will be completed using a telephone, microphone, computer, and video technology.
- Long periods of speaking, sitting, standing, typing, and may be required.
- Although this is a full-time, Exempt position (40 hours per week), extended hours and evenings may be required based on client needs.
