Staff Accountant

Position Summary

Mercedes-Benz Burlington is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Staff Accountant to join our Accounting & Finance team. This role is primarily responsible for managing the Accounts Payable function while also supporting general accounting, financial reporting, and audit preparation activities. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced automotive dealership environment and demonstrate a strong understanding of accounting processes.

What you will do

• 
  Process and code vendor invoices accurately, ensuring proper GL account allocation
• 
  Perform matching of packing slips and receiving documents to vendor invoices prior to payment approval
• 
  Prepare and process monthly payment runs including EFT, cheque, and wire transfers
• 
  Reconcile vendor statements to the AP subledger and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
• 
  Manage AP aging report and ensure outstanding payables are current and accurate
• 
  Coordinate with the Parts, Service, and New Vehicle departments to obtain proper authorization for invoices
• 
  Process and reconcile floorplan payables including vehicle purchases, curtailments, and interest charges
• 
  Prepare month-end AP accruals and ensure all invoices are posted in the correct accounting period
• 
  Maintain organized digital filing of all AP documentation for audit purposes
• 
  Process intercompany transactions and reconcile balances
• 
  Perform weekly bank reconciliation
• General Accounting & Financial Reporting
