Role:
Under general supervision, but following established policies and procedures, facilitates the development, implementation and maintenance of internal and external Compliance Management Program and performance of the primary duties and responsibilities listed below. While implementing or recommending action to ensure compliance and minimize risk, the Compliance Analyst should be conscious of streamlining efforts, cost effectiveness, safety and soundness, and proper maintenance of the internal control structure. Remains cognizant of and adheres to credit union policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act. Undertake other work-related duties as assigned by the Compliance Officer. Performs duties and responsibilities in accordance with The Apple Way principles, of Team Up, Serve With Purpose, Challenge Yourself and Own It.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Keep abreast of, monitor, analyze and communicate developing trends and changes in regulatory compliance laws, rules, and regulations, and advise management of the operational impact of such trends and changes. Facilitate implementation of new regulations and regulatory change, as necessary.
- On behalf of the credit union, analyze and provide written response when necessary to proposed new regulations and/or amendments to existing regulations within allotted time frames established by the regulatory agency(ies).
- Develop, participate in, and review proposed changes to credit union policies and procedures for compliance with applicable regulatory and consumer/public interest laws, rules, and regulations, and provide recommendations for any necessary changes.
- Review, revise and develop credit union forms, contracts, agreements, and disclosures to ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Interface with legal counsel and/or bonding agency to ensure that the terms and conditions set forth in forms, contracts, agreements, and disclosures are accurate, complete, and meet the needs of and properly protect the credit union.
- Assists in the management of the fidelity bond and property and casualty insurance coverage on behalf of the credit union.
- Participate in new product development and provide input regarding compliance concerns relevant to proposed and current products and services offered by the credit union.
- Report as appropriate, regulatory matters, concerns, and/or the overall compliance condition of applicable divisions, departments, operations, or functions within the credit union to the Compliance Officer.
Education:
BA/BS in related field preferred. The America’s Credit Unions Certified Credit Union Compliance Officer Certification or equivalent required within 1 year from hire date.
Experience:
BA/BS in related field. Compliance certification required.
Other Skills
BSA experience. Excellent analytical ability and ability to conduct thorough research, interpret and understand laws and regulations, and provide workable recommendations and solutions to problems. Broad knowledge of, and practical experience with, credit union or other financial institution operating areas, functions, products and services and the laws and regulations which apply to credit unions. Well-organized, efficient, detail-oriented self-starter, able to work independently. Ability to handle simultaneously, multiple tasks and changing priorities in an efficient and effective manner. The ability to work with all levels of management and credit union staff, and members.
Physical Requirements
The ability to lift 25 lbs. and utilize standard office equipment including, but not limited to, PC, fax, copier, telephone, etc.
