Accounts Payable Specialist, Vendor Invoice Processing
Location: Amarillo, TX
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Compensation: $17–$18 per hour, depending on experience
Employment Type: Full-Time | Temp-to-Hire
A day in this role
At 8:00 AM you open your inbox to review the day’s vendor invoices. You’ll key in payables with precision, match statements to records, and track down any discrepancies before they become issues. As calls come in, you respond clearly to vendor questions about payments and due dates. You’ll organize digital and paper files, support accounts receivable efforts during busy cycles, and move seamlessly between accounting software and Microsoft Office—especially Excel and Outlook—to keep everything current and accurate. By end of day, your reconciliations are tidy, payments are queued, and the accounting team has what they need to stay on schedule.
What you’ll do
- Process vendor invoices and schedule payments with accuracy
- Maintain up-to-date accounting records and documentation
- Reconcile vendor statements and investigate variances
- Communicate with vendors on invoice status, payments, and account questions
- Assist with accounts receivable, invoicing, and collections as needed
- Organize financial files for easy retrieval and audit readiness
- Use accounting software alongside Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Pitch in with broader accounting team priorities as requested
What you’ll bring
- At least 1 year of recent experience in accounts payable, bookkeeping, or related accounting work
- Exceptional attention to detail and numeric accuracy
- Comfort working with financial data and reconciliations
- Strong organization and time-management habits
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Familiarity with accounting software (preferred)
- Clear communication and problem-solving skills
- Reliability and the ability to work independently
