The Position: Under the direction of the Controller, the Accounts Payable Manager must exercise a high level of tact and independent judgment in addressing members of the campus community and must be knowledgeable with regards to University policies and procedures as well as State and Federal regulations. Incumbent examines financial documents for completeness, accuracy, and conformance with established policies and procedures and general accounting standards. Primary responsibilities include hiring, supervising, training, and evaluating staff, promoting a high level of customer service, and overseeing the day-to-day functions of Accounts Payable, Travel, and P-card. This position requires a high degree of professional judgment, training, and project management skills to successfully work with students, departments and system-wide projects and initiatives. The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for providing leadership in this cross-functional services area of payments, campus travel, P-card, business transactions, including accounts payables, for the campus community.

Required Qualifications & Experience: A bachelor’s degree with major coursework in Accounting, Finance, Purchasing, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field. Four years or more of recent, progressively responsible accounts payable experience in the private or public sector or a university administrative environment, including experience supervising or leading staff. Experience with a major Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and Office 365. Knowledge of standard practices and regulatory requirements within the area of responsibility. Working knowledge of financial record-keeping, timekeeping, and complex analyses. Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounts payable subledger operations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong decision-making skills, including the ability to quickly evaluate data, establish policy, and lead process implementation. Demonstrated ability to serve as the lead communicator regarding policies and processes and to communicate effectively and timely with internal staff and the campus community. Incumbent must demonstrate an interest or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. A task may be included as part of the interview process.
California State University, Los Angeles, as part of the CSU system, is a State of California Employer. Desired Qualifications: Five years of accounting or financial record-keeping experience. Experience using PeopleSoft systems, including CFS and Data Warehouse, as well as Concur and P2P. Strong accounting experience, including performing reconciliations. Project management experience. Demonstrated experience working in an institutional or educational environment with a customer-oriented and service-centered approach. Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounts payable sub-ledger operations.

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary range is $4,135 - $12,288/monthly. Budgeted hiring salary range is $ 4,135 - $6,667/monthly. A comprehensive benefits package is provided.

Appointment: The Administrator I appointment will be made under the guidelines for management and supervisory employees of the California State University.  All rights and benefits associated with this appointment are governed by the Management Personnel Plan.
