POSITION SUMMARY:
The Accounting Clerk supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This part-time position supports the Administration team by performing a variety of clerical, recordkeeping, and customer service tasks to assist with the smooth operation of the organization’s accounting needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform data entry and filing tasks for accounts payable, purchase orders, equipment inventory, and confidential employee or departmental files.
- Manage childcare billing function; monitor financial status of childcare programs and member accounts.
- Process periodic childcare billing including posting of payments and credits to member accounts and posting of CCDF grant revenue; assist parents with CCDF accounts.
- Pursue collection of unpaid childcare bills; contact parents to discuss and remedy.
- Contact customers to obtain, verify, and update account information when necessary.
- Maintain administration office supply room inventory including monitoring inventory, ordering additional supplies when needed and processing department supply orders.
- Support the Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable Specialist by serving as the back-up.
- Perform general bookkeeping work, which may include entering data and maintaining records, invoices, and supporting documents of amounts due for items purchased or services rendered.
- Copies, collates, and otherwise prepares reports for mailings, meetings, and other correspondence.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations. Obtain and maintain required training(s).
- Accept additional assignments as deemed appropriate, within the scope of the job description.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience required.
- Intermediate user of computers and software programs.
- Strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Basic understanding of clerical procedures and systems such as recordkeeping and filing.
- Ability to work independently and identify and solve problems.
SALARY:
Minimum starting rate of $17 an hour
Starting rate based on experience
SCHEDULE:
Part-time
Weekdays only

- Extended periods of time working at PC and/or laptop, often with repetitive keyboarding movement.
- Outside building travel required.
