Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant (Temp-to-Perm) to support the accounting team during a period of growth. This role will focus primarily on month-end close activities, with specific responsibility for prepaid expenses, real estate tax accruals, and other accrued expenses. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to gain experience in a high-volume, multi-entity environment with the potential to transition into a permanent position.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and record journal entries related to:
- Prepaid expenses
- Real estate tax accruals
- Other accrued liabilities
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Analyze variances and provide explanations for fluctuations in assigned accounts
- Assist in maintaining schedules supporting tax-basis financial reporting
- Work within Dynamics 365 ERP system to enter, analyze, and reconcile financial data
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations and finance teams to gather relevant information for accruals and expenses
- Support audit requests and provide documentation as needed
- Continuously identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1–3+ years of accounting experience (multi-location or restaurant/retail industry experience a plus)
- Experience with month-end close processes required
- Familiarity with tax-basis accounting strongly preferred
- Experience working in a high-volume, multi-entity environment is a plus
- Prior experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 plus
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including:
- PivotTables
- LOOKUP formulas
- Strong understanding of general ledger and account reconciliations
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Self-starter with a proactive mindset
