Sustainable Procurement Lead

- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Commerce, Finance or a related Discipline
- A minimum of five (5) years, progressively responsible experience in a combination of\: strategic and operational business planning, working with corporate performance measures and budgets; business case development
Assets:
- Lived experience, knowledge, training and/or education related to First Nation, Metis, and Inuit communities
- Previous experience building and maintaining relationships with Indigenous partners and communities
- Experience engaging with diverse interest holders
- Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation, Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO) and/or other relevant professional designations
- Experience in a diversified procurement, contract management and/or supply chain management environment
- Experience supporting and leading sustainability projects/portfolios in a procurement context
- Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP Ariba
- Additional training in sustainability; social enterprises; social/benefit driven procurement; financial management; public administration; government relations; project management; and/or change management
Skills required for success:
- Experience managing and working with various Community Partners (internal/external)
- Knowledge in the following areas:

- Market leading practices & trends related to sustainable procurement

- Demonstrated leadership and team building skills
- Ability to analyze complex information and make timely decisions
- Proven planning and organizational skills to manage delivery

Up to 1 temporary full-time position up to 18 months in accordance with Article 18.02 of the Collective Agreement
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week
The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
Salary Range: $48.774 - $61.628 (Hourly); $101,840.110 - 128,679.260 (Annually)

The City of Edmonton is seeking a dynamic Sustainable Procurement Lead to champion innovative solutions and drive positive change. In this role, you will be a key player in shaping the implementation of the City's sustainable procurement policy and practices, collaborating with diverse Community Partners to minimize environmental impact and maximize social benefit.
As a strategic thinker and change agent, you will develop and implement actionable plans, policies, and frameworks, ensuring alignment with the City's broader sustainability goals. You will also provide expert guidance and training to City staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

What will you do?
- Develop and recommend strategic direction and tactical plans for the implementation of the City’s Sustainable Procurement Policy C556C, ensuring integration with organizational goals and priorities
- Enhance the City’s policy implementation through identification, execution and operationalization of recommended activities which meet strategic objectives to leverage City purchases to achieve positive Indigenous, social and environmental benefits for the community
- Create action plans with clear deliverables for short and long-term
- Successfully implement plans, metrics, and reporting mechanisms, following direction from CPSS Branch Leadership team and City Council
- Exercise influence to ensure suppliers, community and industry organizations, and the City’s internal Community Partners understand the purpose and principles of the Sustainable Procurement program
- Develop and implement tools, guidelines and processes related to Social Procurement, Indigenous Procurement, Environmental Sustainability; and Ethical Standards
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of sustainable processes within CPSS and lead initiatives on behalf of CPSS
- Develop and implement procedures within different business units and the CPSS branch to ensure compliance to policy and related reporting requirements
- Lead the development of supplier engagement activities including annual events and webinars explaining the procurement process
