Staff Accountant

Location: Denver, CO (Hybrid/Remote OK)

Employment Type: 3-6 month Contract -to-Perm with strong possibility to convert to FTE

An innovative, venture-backed technology company is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its growing Finance team. What You'll Do

Accounting Operations

• Process day-to-day accounting transactions, including accounts payable, cash management, and general ledger activities.
• Own the purchase order, accounts payable, and three-way matching process to ensure invoices are accurate and vendors are paid on time.
• Maintain accurate financial records and support ongoing accounting operations.

Month-End Close & Financial Reporting

• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
• Prepare journal entries and perform balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Support financial reporting and perform ad hoc analyses as requested.

Audit & Compliance

• Assist with annual financial audits and external reporting requirements.
• Support the preparation of federal, state, and local tax filings.
• Help ensure compliance with accounting policies and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Cross-Functional Support

• Partner with Operations, Procurement, and other business teams to understand project costs and financial transactions.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve accounting processes and financial controls.
• Participate in special projects and continuous process improvement initiatives.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of accounting experience.
• Experience with accounts payable, general ledger accounting, cash reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Solid understanding of GAAP.
• Experience with accounting software or ERP systems (QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, or similar platforms).
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and overall proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or progress toward CPA certification.
• Experience working in a high-growth, startup, or rapidly scaling organization.
• Experience in manufacturing, engineering, industrial technology, aerospace, defense, or other complex technical industries.
• Familiarity with modern ERP systems and financial automation tools.
