Duties
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory standards.
- Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing procedures.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure timely payments and collections.
- Conduct bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.
- Support internal controls compliance, including SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) procedures, and assist with audits.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Utilize accounting software such as PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms for daily transactions and reporting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects involving corporate finance, governmental accounting, or non-profit accounting as needed.
- Contribute to the preparation of regulatory reports and ensure adherence to securities law and other legal requirements.
- Mentor junior team members by sharing best practices in technical accounting, financial concepts, and software usage.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
- Proven experience in corporate accounting within a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, accrual accounting, double entry bookkeeping, and financial report writing.
- Hands-on experience with financial software such as PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar systems.
- Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements and internal control processes.
- Demonstrated ability to perform account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and balance sheet analysis accurately.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and prepare detailed reports.
- Experience with governmental or non-profit accounting is advantageous but not required.
