Staff Accountant Mid-States Bolt & Screw, a trusted local fastener distributor, is seeking a Staff Accountant to support our growing business and add to our great finance team! Based out of our corporate headquarters in Burton, MI. Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting functions while supporting financial reporting, month-end close, budgeting, and business analysis. This role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records while providing valuable insights that support operational and strategic decision-making. Key Responsibilities General Accounting, Month-End Close & Financial Reporting

Prepare and record journal entries in the general ledger.
Own and support critical components of the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts.
Prepare bank reconciliations and other account reconciliations.
Prepare and maintain sales tax filings and jurisdiction updates.
Assist with internal and external audits by preparing supporting schedules and documentation.

Financial Planning & Analysis

Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
Analyze financial results and investigate discrepancies and variances.
Develop and maintain financial reports, dashboards, and key performance indicator (KPI) reporting.
Partner with operational leaders to provide financial analysis and business insights.

Operational Accounting

Assist accounts payable and accounts receivable processes as needed.
Support vendor expense processing and ACH vendor setup.
Assist with overseas invoice processing and related accounting activities.

Process Improvement & Special Projects

Participate in the development and continuous improvement of accounting procedures, internal controls, and standard operating procedures.
Assist with special projects and other finance initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
3+ years of accounting or related financial experience.
Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Proficiency with ERP systems (Epicor P21 preferred).
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with Power BI or Power Query is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
