Senior Accountant

HornBill's client, a leading communications company, is seeking a Senior Accountant in New York, NY. Responsibilities:

• Responsible for all aspects of transactional and technical accounting for the company's equity, debt, and various other balance sheet accounts
• Maintain and report of equity compensation expense in the company's Equity Compensation System
• Produce Black Scholes valuations for stock option grants and scenario planning
• Responsible for preparation of equity compensation and debt footnote disclosures in 10-Qs and 10-K
• Proactively respond to evolving business and accounting rules and improve and enhance processes
• Responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the company's accounting policies and procedures
• Responsible for the preparation of monthly account roll forwards and account reconciliations
• Communicate on a regular basis with finance team and business liaisons to ensure that the accounting is consistent with the business
• Support Finance Planning and Analysis departmental requests for relevant reporting requests
• Assist internal and external auditors with Sarbanes-Oxley and financial audits
• Responsible for documenting compliance with internal controls over the monthly close process
• Other duties as assigned

• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting required
• 2 - 4 years accounting experience - private/public experience (minimum of 1 - 2 years public preferred)
• CPA preferred, or parts passed a plus
• Ability to define and manage accounting processes and procedures
• Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley
• Quantitative, reasoning and analytical skills
• Team player, ability to interact and work with staff at all levels
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced and deadline driven environment
• Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
