Senior Accountant

HornBill has a client in Herndon, Virginia (VA) that is seeking a Senior Accountant. Responsibilities:

• Analyze contracts to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment and compliance with the new revenue accounting standards ASC606
• Reconcile deferred revenue accounts and prepare monthly revenue recognition entries in accordance to GAAP
• Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting requirements around revenue under ASC 606
• Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents and reports
• Perform statistical analysis to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes, and write narrative reports explaining findings
• Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures
• Assist in SOX audit work to ensure corporate compliance
• Prepare audit schedules and support external auditors
• Audit and substantiate financial transactions and maintain a complete and accurate general ledger
• Participate in special projects and identify process improvements to further build efficiencies

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3 + years of accounting, auditing or financial reporting experience
• Advanced experience with Excel
• Demonstrate knowledge of general ledger and ERP systems
• Able to adhere to strict deadlines, willing and able to do what it takes to get the work done

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
• Experience with a Big 4 accounting firm or other national firm
• Experience with Oracle, Hyperion and NetSuite
