Valeris is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll processing, a keen eye for accuracy, and a commitment to ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for accurately processing payroll, maintaining payroll records, and providing exceptional customer service to our employees. Experience with Workday is highly desired and will be considered a strong advantage. Key Responsibilities: Assisting with the end-to-end payroll process for a 3000+ employee organization in a fast-growing company with multi-state operations Improving the performance of various payroll processes throughout our organization Performing payroll-related functions including but not limited to: Processing new hires Termination status changes Tax changes Wage garnishments Deductions Direct deposit changes Audits 401(k) administration Implementing, maintaining, and reviewing payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, and other deductions. Maintaining the HR Helpdesk tickets relating to payroll related questions. Reconciling payroll discrepancies and resolving any issues that arise. Generating payroll reports for management and accounting purposes. Maintaining confidentiality of payroll information and sensitive employee data. Remaining informed about changes in payroll regulations and best practices. Assisting with multi-state tax registrations, renewals, and processing of tax notices, as well as ensuring proper tax set-up of employees Performing research on new/existing state taxing authorities as needed, along with collaborating with other departments to ensure the execution of deliverables within the organization. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll processing or related role. Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel Experience with Workday a plus Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. High level of integrity and professionalism. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred but not required. Physical Demands & Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit for long periods of time, use hands to type, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Prefer candidates who can type at least 35 words per minute with 97% accuracy. Although very minimal, flexibility to travel as needed is preferred.
