Position Summary:Peak Toolworks is seeking an experienced Corporate Controller to lead and oversee the Company's accounting and financial reporting functions. This position will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, supporting financial planning and analysis, and providing financial insight to leadership.
The Corporate Controller will oversee corporate accounting activities and work closely with Finance, Operations, Sales, Talent, and executive leadership across the organization. This role requires a hands-on leader who can balance day-to-day accounting responsibilities with process improvement, financial controls, and strategic support.
This position is based onsite in Jasper, Indiana, with a hybrid work with option to work remote 2 days a week. Travel 5%-10% to visit Canada team.
Key Responsibilities:Financial Reporting & Accounting:

Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and management reports.
Oversee general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, and financial reporting.
Review financial results for accuracy, completeness, and unusual variances.
Maintain accounting policies and procedures in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
Ensure consistent accounting practices across the organization.
Support consolidation of financial results across multiple locations and entities.

Corporate Accounting & Controls:

Lead corporate accounting operations and establish effective processes and controls.
Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls to protect company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, efficiency, and automation.
Monitor compliance with company policies and accounting requirements.
Support cash management, working capital, and balance sheet management.
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, inventory accounting, and other accounting functions as appropriate.

Audit, Tax & Compliance:

Coordinate annual financial audits and serve as a key point of contact with external auditors.
Support tax compliance and work with external tax advisors as needed.
Ensure appropriate documentation and support for audits and financial reporting.
Assist with compliance related to federal, state, and Canadian financial requirements as applicable.
Monitor changes in accounting standards and recommend necessary changes to policies or procedures.

Financial Planning & Business Partnership:

Partner with the CFO and executive leadership on financial analysis and business decisions.
Support the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
Provide financial analysis and reporting to help leadership understand business performance.
Partner with Operations and other functional leaders to analyze costs, margins, inventory, labor, and other key financial drivers.
Assist with financial modeling and analysis related to capital investments, acquisitions, strategic initiatives, and other business opportunities.
Translate financial information into clear, actionable insights for non-financial leaders.

Leadership & Team Development:

Lead, develop, and mentor accounting team members.
Establish clear expectations, priorities, and accountability within the accounting function.
Promote a culture of accuracy, continuous improvement, collaboration, and customer service.
Partner with other departments to resolve financial and operational issues.
Support organizational growth by developing scalable accounting processes and systems.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
CPA preferred.
7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including significant experience in a Controller or similar leadership role.
Manufacturing or multi-location industry experience strongly preferred.
Experience with month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
Experience working with ERP/accounting systems and implementing process improvements.
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
Experience with audits and working with external accounting and tax professionals.
Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively with executive leadership and cross-functional teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High level of integrity, confidentiality, accuracy, and attention to detail.

Preferred Experience:

CPA or equivalent professional accounting designation.
Manufacturing accounting experience.
Experience with multiple entities or locations.
Experience with inventory, standard costing, and manufacturing financial reporting.
Experience with ERP implementations, system improvements, or accounting automation.
Experience supporting U.S. and Canadian operations.
Experience in a growing or privately held organization.
