Our client is looking for a Controller who can lead the local accounting function while partnering closely with operations to understand project performance, improve processes, and provide leadership with the financial insight needed to make smart business decisions.

This role is ideal for someone who brings strong technical accounting knowledge but also enjoys leading people, digging into job costs, improving systems, and communicating the story behind the numbers.

What You’ll Do

As Controller, you’ll oversee the day-to-day accounting and financial activities for the local operation while serving as a key financial partner to operational leadership. Responsibilities will include:

• Lead and develop an accounting team supporting accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, treasury and related accounting functions
• Oversee monthly financial reporting and assist with month-end and year-end close activities
• Manage job cost accounting, including project setup, billing, change orders, rate changes and budget-to-actual analysis
• Monitor project financial performance, operating expenses and key financial trends
• Review financial results against budgets and forecasts and communicate meaningful variances to leadership
• Maintain strong financial processes and controls surrounding cash, AR, AP, inventory, accruals and revenue recognition
• Prepare operational metrics, dashboards and financial reporting for business leaders
• Partner with operations to improve financial performance and provide greater visibility into project results
• Support annual budgeting and forecasting
• Help identify opportunities to modernize, streamline and scale accounting processes
• Participate in strategic initiatives and support the financial integration of acquisitions as needed

What They’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
• 7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
• At least 3 years of leadership/management experience
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial controls
• Experience with job costing and percentage-of-completion/revenue recognition accounting
• Proven ability to communicate financial results to operational leaders and senior executives
• Experience improving accounting processes, systems or workflows
• Ability to lead effectively in a fast-paced environment while balancing strategic initiatives with day-to-day accounting responsibilities
• Strong interpersonal skills with the confidence to navigate challenging conversations and influence stakeholders across the organization
