About Valinor

Valinor is building a new kind of credit institution — one with the rigor and judgment of a financial firm and the speed and ambition of a technology company. We originate, structure, and distribute institutional-grade credit products natively onchain.

The role

You own financial and fund control at Valinor. Production is outsourced — bookkeeping, tax, and financial reporting sit with an outsourced accounting provider, and fund administration sits with our fund administrator. You own those relationships end-to-end: you are the sole point of contact for every finance and fund vendor, and the control layer above what they produce — reviewing their output, owning treasury and money-movement procedures, controlling fund operations, and serving as the internal owner of financial accuracy. You are the person who can say at any moment where the firm and the fund stand — and prove it.

What you'll do

• Finance and fund vendor ownership. Sole day-to-day point of contact for the outsourced accounting provider (bookkeeping and tax), fund administrator, banks, brokerage, and custody providers. These relationships do not route through anyone else at the firm.
• Fund operations. Own the fund administrator relationship: daily NAV reconciliation review, sign-off on NAV packages, capital call and distribution execution, and the investor reporting cadence. Own operational readiness for fund events end-to-end. Work with investment team on forecasting, budgeting and scenario analysis.
• Fee & allocation review. Review the fund administrator's NAV package, management-fee and incentive/carry calculations, and LP capital allocations for accuracy before sign-off — the internal control layer over what the administrator produces.
• Treasury and banking. Own bank and brokerage account administration, bill pay and wire workflows, signer-list maintenance, and cash positioning. Payment approvals remain multi-party with the founders — you run the process and the controls around it.
• Financial review. Review and sign off the monthly financials — and the underlying accounting (chart of accounts, journal entries, and GAAP treatment) — produced by our outsourced accounting provider against a documented close-review checklist; own the accuracy of the numbers the team relies on. Coordinate tax filings and the audit relationship.
• Compliance controls. Own KYC/AML and investor-onboarding controls in coordination with the fund administrator, vendors and counsel.
• Crypto money movement. Execute the procedures and controls for onchain transfers: initiation, coordination, documentation, and reconciliation of onchain activity against the books. Signing and custody authority remain with designated key holders; you own the control framework around them.
• Regulatory support. Support regulatory applications and registrations (e.g., investment adviser registration) and build the surrounding control and reporting infrastructure, working with outside counsel and compliance advisors.
• Legal coordination. Manage the legal workflow with outside counsel on finance, fund, and regulatory matters: deliverables, deadlines, and costs.

What we're looking for

• 5–10 years across fund accounting, fund operations, or controllership at a fund administrator, in financial-services audit, or in-house at an investment firm, ideally with experience in credit / private credit.
• You have closed books, reviewed a fund administrator's NAV package, and run a capital call — this role assumes fluency, not potential.
• A strong technical accounting foundation: fluent in US GAAP and able to review an outsourced bookkeeper's work — chart of accounts, journal entries, and financial statements — and catch what's wrong.
• A controls mindset: segregation of duties, reconciliation discipline, checklists, and clean audit trails are how you think, not chores. Every process you own ends up documented and runnable by someone else — no single points of failure.
• Experience managing outsourced providers (accounting, fund admin, tax) in a review capacity — you know how to hold vendors to a standard without doing their job for them.
• Clear, proactive communication: risks flagged before they become problems, written status without prompting.
• Comfortable in a lean team: this is a hands-on role with no staff — you are the control function.
• An automation instinct: you use AI tools as a daily working habit, look at your own function as something to systematize and automate, and know what must stay human — approvals, sign-offs, and judgment. Build Claude-based skills and automations to create a control function that gets faster and tighter as the firm scales, without adding headcount.

• Salary: $140k-200k depending on experience, plus benefits.
