Our client is a growing government contracting firm delivering mission-critical solutions to federal agencies. With a strong pipeline and expanding portfolio, we are seeking a strategic Chief Financial Officer to help scale our operations, strengthen financial rigor, and position the company for its next phase of growth. Position Overview
The CFO will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for the overall financial strategy, reporting, compliance, and capital structure of the company. This role requires a leader with experience, deep knowledge of government contracting, (preferably) and a track record of driving operational and financial excellence in complex, regulated environments. Key Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of financial management, including accounting, FP&A, treasury, tax, audit, and compliance
- Oversee financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and ensure readiness for public company standards (SEC reporting, internal controls, etc.)
- Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and Board, providing insights on growth, profitability, and risk management
- Ensure compliance with government contract regulations, including FAR, CAS, and DCAA requirements
- Drive budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes
- Lead cash management, capital allocation, and financing strategy (debt/equity)
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls and scalable financial systems
- Support M&A activities, including due diligence and integration
- Manage relationships with auditors, investors, banks, and government agencies
- Build and mentor a high-performing finance team
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field (MBA and/or CPA strongly preferred)
- 10–15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including prior CFO or senior finance executive role
- Public company experience required (SEC reporting, SOX compliance, investor relations exposure)
- Strong background in government contracting (FAR, CAS, DCAA audits, cost accounting)
- Demonstrated success scaling financial operations in a growth-oriented environment
- Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills
- Experience with IPO readiness or taking a company public
- Background in private equity-backed or high-growth environments
- Familiarity with contract types (FFP, CPFF, T&M) and project-based accounting
