Role: The Accounting Specialist provides financial services of superior quality and convenience through performing routine, simple accounting clerical operations in accordance with standard procedures for the credit union.
Pay: The pay for this position is $22.19 an hour.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Performs routine accounting functions including one or more, but not limited to: accounts payable and receivable general ledger accounting, account reconciliation and billing/payment processing, posting journal entries, and maintaining accounting records and reports.
- Resolves problems in simple recurring assignments in accordance with previous training and experience.
- Verifies accuracy, completeness, and consistency of accounting information received.
- Assists in preparation of various routine and simple financial, regulatory and special reports for month, quarter and year-end closing.
- Collaborates with other departments and/or 3rd party agencies to resolve common problems and answer inquires.
- Contributes to efficient Credit Union operations by performing other job-related duties as assigned.
- Maintains knowledge of all Credit Union products, services, and promotions.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: One year to three years of similar or related experience.
Education: (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
Other Skills: Position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must have experience using computers and MS Office software.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes and/or seasonal brightness through windows. This position may involve periodic stressful conditions. The Credit Union's business days are Monday through Saturday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; however, this position may occasionally require an adjusted work schedule, overtime, and to include evening/weekend hours. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
