Accountant
Elwood Roberts • Dublin, Ireland • Full Time
Posted on Fri, Jul 17, 2026
Contract length: 12 months
Location/pattern: Office 2 days/week
Urgency: Urgent — first interviews ASAP
Our Client are restructuring its Tech Finance function and needs someone with a stronger cross-functional accountancy background than the current setup provides. This is a contract role, not a path to permanent — the function itself is changing shape.
What the person will actually do
Act as the finance lead embedded in the Tech/CDIO department: control and authorise all contractor and agency spend (30+ agencies/partners, ensuring they're paid on time), manage IAG purchase requisition approval and monthly re-charge invoicing, produce monthly contractor accruals, support budget forecasting and planning cycles with finance business partners, monitor and analyse IT spend variances, and identify cost-saving process improvements (including using AI/automation tools). Also covers for the Finance Planning Manager when needed and presents financial data to non-finance stakeholders in a way they can act on.
The MUST HAVES for this role are:
- Qualified accountant: ACA, ACCA, or CIMA (or equivalent experience) — 5+ years post-qualification
- Strong cross-functional / business-partnering accounting background — this is the #1 gap the client is trying to fix, not just technical accounting skill
- Advanced MS Office and general comfort with IT/finance systems
- Fluent English with strong written reporting and presentation skills — will regularly explain financial data to non-accountants
- Proven ability to manage high-volume spend/contractor administration under deadline pressure with high accuracy
- Demonstrated experience driving process improvements or cost efficiencies (not just maintaining existing processes)
Nice-to-have
- ERP experience, ideally SAP, ideally SAP S/4HANA
Don't just filter on "qualified accountant" — the client is specifically burned by candidates who are technically qualified but narrow/siloed. Look for candidates who've worked across departments, managed vendor/contractor spend at scale, or led a process improvement initiative — not just month-end close experience.
Please remember to submit all CVs via the portal as we don't accept CVs via email. Always include the candidate rate, notice period and interview availability (in GMT).
