The Law Society of Alberta (Law Society) regulates the legal profession in the public interest.

In alignment with the Law Society’s vision, mission, and strategic plan, the Accounting department provides the Boards of Directors (the Benchers), Committees (Audit and Finance), management and all business units with timely, accurate and meaningful financial information and advice to support effective strategic and operational decision making. The department is responsible for the accounting records of three distinct but related entities: The Law Society, the Alberta Lawyers Insurance Association (ALIA), and the Canadian Centre for Professional Legal Education (CPLED).

The Accountant will work closely with the Manager, Finance and Accounting in the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly and year-end accounting information to meet the financial information needs of all stakeholders. This includes the accounting records of all three entities.

Success in this position requires excellent attention to detail, sound knowledge of financial reporting, and effective organizational and communication skills.
