The Department of Orthopaedics is seeking an Accountant – Associate to support routine accounting, financial reporting, reconciliation, and administrative functions. Under direct supervision, this position will assist with the preparation of accounting entries, financial statements, monthly reports, and other departmental financial records. The role requires strong attention to detail, organization, dependability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while supporting department leadership and operational needs.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Process, monitor, and reconcile departmental financial transactions, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with institutional policies.
Maintain and reconcile departmental accounts, including operating budgets, faculty professional allowances, legal funds, discretionary accounts, contract revenue, deposits, and other assigned financial resources.
Track departmental revenue and expenditures, researching discrepancies and coordinating timely resolution with institutional finance and departmental personnel.
Prepare and process journal entries, account transfers, deposits, payment requests, expense reimbursements, and other financial transactions.
Receive, prepare, and reconcile departmental check deposits and maintain supporting documentation.
Perform monthly reconciliations of assigned accounts and prepare supporting schedules for department leadership.
Assist with payroll and timesheet review, financial reconciliations, and transaction verification as assigned.
Maintain financial tracking spreadsheets and databases to monitor departmental activity, balances, commitments, and available funding.
Compile financial information and assist in preparing routine operational reports, budget summaries, and supporting documentation for leadership.
Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, audit requests, and financial record maintenance.
Work collaboratively with faculty, administrators, and institutional business offices to resolve transaction issues and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Identify opportunities to improve financial workflows, documentation, and internal controls.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required |
Basic knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, reconciliations, budget tracking, and maintaining accurate financial records.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to review data, identify discrepancies, organize documentation, and meet deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook) with the ability to learn institutional financial and reporting systems.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently while supporting department leadership, faculty, and staff.
