We are seeking an experienced UKG Payroll & Infor WFM Technical Manager with deep expertise in Infor Workforce Management (WFM) and UKG Payroll to lead the strategy, support, modernization, and governance of enterprise payroll and workforce management platforms. This role requires a strong blend of technical leadership, payroll domain expertise, production support, vendor management, and project delivery capabilities.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience supporting complex payroll environments, driving technology roadmaps, managing cross-functional teams, and resolving critical production issues while ensuring compliance, reliability, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Technology Leadership
- Own the overall health, reliability, support model, and roadmap for payroll and workforce management applications, including Infor WFM and UKG Payroll.
- Define and execute payroll technology strategy, architecture simplification initiatives, modernization plans, and investment priorities.
- Manage technology budgets, Agile funding, vendor engagements, contracts, and delivery governance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, operational efficiency, and system reliability.
Production Support & Incident Management
- Lead critical issue triage, root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and production support activities.
- Resolve payroll, timekeeping, configuration, integration, data validation, security, and financial posting issues.
- Review logs, interfaces, schedules, system configurations, and data flows to identify and resolve issues.
- Ensure permanent corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurring production incidents.
- Participate in payroll processing cycles, releases, cutovers, go-lives, and stabilization efforts.
Solution Architecture & Technology Management
- Provide technical leadership across payroll application design, integrations, reporting, automation, and security.
- Review and approve technical solutions, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and compliance.
- Oversee integrations between payroll platforms and enterprise applications such as:
- Workday
- SAP Finance
- Banking Systems
- Tax Providers
- HR Applications
- Time & Attendance Systems
- Ensure proper governance, documentation, testing, and release readiness.
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor technical resources, support teams, contractors, managed service providers, and vendors.
- Establish support processes, escalation procedures, runbooks, and knowledge-sharing practices.
- Drive accountability, technical excellence, and service delivery performance across the team.
- Identify skill gaps and develop capability-building plans.
Project & Stakeholder Management
- Lead payroll technology implementations, upgrades, migrations, and enhancement projects.
- Partner closely with Payroll Operations, HR, Finance, IT, Security, Audit, and Business stakeholders.
- Provide executive-level communication on service health, project status, risks, incidents, and mitigation plans.
- Ensure delivery commitments are achieved within established timelines and quality standards.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure adherence to:
- Payroll regulations
- SOX controls
- Security requirements
- Audit standards
- Data privacy regulations
- Maintain audit-ready documentation, testing evidence, change records, and operational procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience supporting Payroll Systems, Workforce Management, HRIS, or enterprise business applications.
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Infor Workforce Management (WFM)
- UKG Payroll
- Experience managing enterprise payroll technology environments and production support organizations.
- Strong understanding of:
- Payroll processing
- Timekeeping systems
- Payroll calculations
- Payroll controls
- Data integrations
- Compliance requirements
- Experience leading technical teams, vendors, and managed service providers.
- Experience with system integrations, APIs, file transfers, data validation, testing, release management, and change control.
- Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills.
