Staff Accountant

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a Staff Accountant to join a collaborative accounting team in a newly available position. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional looking to build their experience across month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit support. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting fundamentals, be comfortable with debits and credits, and possess the initiative to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do

• Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Support general ledger maintenance and ensure accuracy of accounting records
• Analyze account activity and investigate discrepancies as needed
• Assist with audit preparation and provide documentation to internal and external auditors
• Support various accounting projects and process improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
• Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation
• Learn and adapt to accounting systems and technology tools used by the organization
• Assist with ad hoc reporting and accounting functions as needed

What We're Looking For

• Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
• 1-2 years of accounting experience required
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, including debits and credits
• Experience supporting month-end close activities preferred
• Audit experience is a strong plus
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to learn new systems and technologies quickly
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Open to candidates from a variety of industries

Work Environment & Schedule

• Hybrid schedule: 4 days in-office / 1 day remote initially
• Transition to a long-term 3 days in-office / 2 days remote schedule
• Average workload of 40-45 hours per week
• Additional overtime may be required during onboarding and peak periods
• Opportunity to work closely with experienced accounting leadership and gain valuable training and mentorship

Additional Requirements

• Valid passport required or ability to obtain one prior to an anticipated international business trip in mid-December
• Ability to start promptly to allow for training and knowledge transfer
