About the Role

Otto Aerospace is seeking a Senior Strategic Procurement Specialist to lead sourcing and procurement activities across Indirect Goods and Services (IGS). This hands-on role will support the evolving needs of a rapid aircraft development and manufacturing environment, ensuring teams have timely access to the services, equipment, facilities support, technology, and operational resources required to execute. The successful candidate will combine strong commercial judgment with disciplined SAP execution, moving comfortably between strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, purchase-order management, stakeholder support, and urgent day-to-day problem solving.

About the Department

The Supply Chain team is building the commercial and operational foundation required to move Otto's clean-sheet aircraft program from development and flight test into scalable production. The team partners closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Facilities, Information Technology, Finance, Quality, Human Resources, Legal, and Program Management to secure reliable suppliers, protect schedule and cash, and establish processes that can scale with the business. This role will be the primary procurement partner for many non-production requirements and will help bring structure, visibility, and commercial discipline to a fast-changing indirect spend portfolio.

What You'll Do

• Own strategic sourcing and procurement activities for assigned indirect categories, which may include facilities, MRO and shop supplies, capital equipment, tooling support, information technology, professional services, contingent labor, travel, logistics, utilities, and general corporate services.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to translate business needs into clear sourcing strategies, scopes of work, bid packages, commercial evaluations, rate negotiations and executable procurement plans.
• Lead competitive sourcing events, supplier selection, negotiations, and award recommendations, balancing cost, schedule, technical capability, service quality, risk, and total cost of ownership.
• Negotiate and administer purchase orders, service agreements, statements of work, master service agreements, renewals, and change orders in coordination with Legal, Finance, and functional owners.
• Execute the complete procure-to-pay cycle in SAP, including supplier and material/service master coordination, purchase requisition conversion, purchase-order creation and maintenance, account assignment, approval workflow, service entry, change control, and invoice-resolution support.
• Maintain accurate SAP data for price, quantity, delivery dates, cost centers, WBS elements, commitments, and supporting documentation; proactively resolve blocked invoices, mismatches, and aging commitments.
• Develop category-level spend visibility, sourcing pipelines, supplier performance metrics, savings and cost-avoidance reporting, renewal calendars, and risk-mitigation plans.
• Support urgent manufacturing and site-readiness requirements with a strong bias for action while maintaining procurement policy, financial controls, export-control requirements, and appropriate competition and documentation.
• Build productive supplier relationships, monitor delivery and service performance, lead commercial escalations, and implement corrective actions where commitments are not being met.
• Help establish scalable IGS procurement processes, templates, supplier onboarding processes, workflows, preferred-supplier agreements, catalogs, blanket orders, and governance suited to Otto's transition from prototype and flight-test operations to production ramp-up.

Who You Are

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, Operations, or a related field; equivalent directly relevant experience may be considered.

Experience

• Typically 7+ years of progressive procurement, strategic sourcing, purchasing, or category-management experience, including meaningful responsibility for indirect goods and services.
• Demonstrated experience supporting manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, industrial, or another fast-paced technical operating environment where priorities and requirements evolve quickly.
• Proven success leading sourcing events, negotiating commercial terms, managing service-based scopes of work, and delivering measurable cost, schedule, risk, or process improvements.

Required Skills

• Advanced, hands-on proficiency in SAP procurement processes is required. Candidates must be able to independently create, maintain, troubleshoot, and report against purchasing transactions and related master data.
• Strong understanding of indirect procurement, including services, cost-center and WBS-based buying, service-entry processes, contract renewals, invoice matching, and supplier-performance management.
• Strong commercial negotiation, contract interpretation, spend-analysis, and total-cost-of-ownership skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, incomplete information, and urgent stakeholder needs without sacrificing accuracy, governance, or follow-through.
• Clear, concise communicator with the confidence to challenge requirements constructively, align cross-functional teams, and escalate risks early.
• Highly organized, analytical, accountable, and comfortable operating as a hands-on individual contributor in a scaling organization.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and standard productivity tools; experience with Power BI, contract-lifecycle tools, or e-sourcing platforms is preferred.

• Must be able to work in the United States and satisfy applicable export-control requirements.
• Ability to support an on-site manufacturing environment and engage directly with internal customers and suppliers.
• Occasional domestic or international travel may be required based on business and supplier needs.
