About the Role:
The Senior Accountant works closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the finance department and other members of the management to engage in practices to effectively manage the day-to-day aspects and operations of the health center. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. This role involves preparing financial statements, supporting month-end and year-end closing processes, assisting in bi-weekly payroll process and ensure compliance with financial regulations. The Senior Accountant will have strong analytical skills, proficiency in accounting software, and a keen attention to detail. They will work closely with the finance team to support the company’s financial operations and contribute to its overall financial health. The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring efficient, smooth and effective day-to-day operations, maintaining financial records and general ledger activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional accounting experience, preferably within the healthcare or social assistance industry.
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and healthcare financial regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Cultural sensitivity necessary to work with a diverse patient and staff population.
Responsibilities:
- Works with the CFO and other personnel in the finance department on the yearly financial budget.
- Prepares internal and external financial reports by analyzing information from the general ledger system.
- Analyze and verify information by creating spreadsheet reports.
- Perform Bank Reconciliations
- Assist CFO in monitoring and reporting on Grants
- Works with the CFO in preparation and reporting of state and federal reports such as, UDS, Medicare Cost Report, Medicaid Cost Report, department reports, monthly reports to the Board of Directors, etc. All reporting is to be done in a timely manner.
- Provides information to external auditors audits.
- Maintain the chart of accounts.
- Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions.
- Prepare general ledger entries.
- Analyze current procedures and recommend changes to develop and implement best practice accounting procedures
- Provide analysis in conjunction with CFO on special projects
- Reinforce policies and procedures.
- Be responsible for providing consistent communication to the Chief Financial Officer to provide a comprehensive and clear assessment of areas of responsibility.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with internal and external parties engaged and involved in health center activities.
- Attend and actively participate in supervision, training and other meetings as assigned.
- Performs all assignments within the deadlines set and regularly communicates the status of various projects to the CFO.
