To learn more about our company, please visit our website http://www.optimas.com/ Position overview: The Senior Accountant is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional who thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented environment and demonstrates the ability to contribute across a variety of responsibilities to support departmental and organizational objectives. This position will be responsible for preparing various monthly journal entries and accruals in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company financial policy, as well as analyzing business data to support business goals and objectives. Located on-site in Wood Dale, IL The Senior Accountant works closely with Payroll/Benefits, Treasury, FP&A and the broader business to ensure efficient financial operations. Main responsibilities: Therolewill be responsible for the following:
- Execute assigned responsibilities in accordance with the monthly close calendar, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all deliverables including journal entries, reconciliations, fluctuation analysis, and reporting requirements.
- Manage all weekly, bi-weekly and off-cycle payroll journal entries while partnering closely with Payroll/Benefits to ensure accurate recording and reporting of all related transactions.
- Monitor all costs for employee benefits, partnering closely with Payroll/Benefits to understand changes in activity. Record journal entries each month to allocate costs to departments and prepare the related balance sheet reconciliations.
- Review expenses for the Shared Services team based in India and prepare monthly journal entries to allocate out all related invoices to the correct general ledger accounts.
- Prepare consolidation journal entries for intercompany eliminations and headcount statistics.
- Monitor vendor rebates, communicate with the Sourcing Team to resolve questions, and prepare the necessary monthly journal entries and related balance sheet reconciliation.
- Prepare journal entries and related balance sheet reconciliations for all other assigned accounts.
- Execute steps to close the accounting periods in NetSuite.
- Own all related audit requests for the interim and annual audit, ensuring that all requests are provided to auditors in a timely manner
- Maintain internal controls across general accounting processes to ensure compliance with company policies

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
- CPA or equivalent professional certification preferred
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in general ledger accounting
- Proficiency in NetSuite and/or Epicor ERP systems
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Experience in industrial manufacturing, distribution or related environment strongly preferred
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
