Senior Accountant – Single Family Office | NYC

OVERVIEW

A long-established Single Family Office with more than a century of history is seeking a seasoned accounting professional to join its established team. This individual will play an important role in the day-to-day financial and administrative operations of the family office.

This is a highly trusted, hands-on position with significant responsibility and visibility across multiple family entities, investment structures, family members, banking relationships, and special projects. The role encompasses accounting, financial reporting, treasury and cash management, family-office administration, compliance, controls, and coordination with outside professional advisors.

The successful candidate will work with the President and senior management, and will serve as a resource to the accounting and operations team, as well as family members and outside service providers. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to take on increasing responsibility and potentially grow into a Controller-level role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting & Financial Operations

• Support day-to-day accounting and financial operations across multiple family entities, LLCs, partnerships, investment entities, and other structures.
• Maintain accurate general ledger accounting, including journal entries, accruals, accounts payable, intercompany activity, and reconciliations.
• Handle bank, brokerage, credit card, investment, and intercompany reconciliations.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
• Prepare financial statements, management reports, budgets, cash-flow reports, and ad hoc financial analyses.
• Maintain entity-level financial reporting and chart-of-account structures.
• Monitor and ensure the accuracy of financial information across multiple entities and accounts.

  Family Office Administration

• Provide day-to-day financial administration and support for family members and related entities.
• Coordinate and assist with family bill payment and expense management.
• Maintain and organize financial records and documentation for family members and related entities.
• Provide financial reporting and information to family members and senior management.
• Coordinate with banks, investment managers, accountants, attorneys, insurance professionals, and other outside advisors.
• Assist with the administration and financial oversight of personal and family-related entities and activities.
• Respond to requests for financial information and documentation in a timely and discreet manner.
• Handle sensitive financial information with a high degree of confidentiality and discretion.
• Assist with special family-office projects and other administrative matters as they arise.

  Treasury & Cash Management

• Monitor cash positions across family-office entities, personal accounts, and other related accounts.
• Coordinate cash transfers, funding requirements, and liquidity needs.
• Assist with wires, ACH transactions, capital calls, investment funding, and distributions.
• Maintain appropriate controls surrounding banking and payment activities.
• Support cash-flow forecasting and short-term liquidity planning.
• Coordinate with banks and financial institutions regarding account activity and other banking matters.

  Sage Intacct

• Serve as the primary accounting resource for Sage Intacct.
• Ensure transactions are properly entered, coded, reconciled, and reported.
• Maintain entity structures, dimensions, account mappings, workflows, and reporting.
• Support accounting team members with Sage-related processes and questions.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and controls.
• Work with technology resources and Sage support partners as needed.

  Compliance, Audit & Controls

• Support periodic compliance filings for various entities and jurisdictions.
• Coordinate and assist with audits, reviews, and operational due diligence.
• Maintain appropriate financial and administrative controls.
• Ensure established processes are followed consistently across the organization.
• Assist with Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery planning.
• Coordinate with outside professionals on tax, legal, accounting, and other compliance matters.

  Team & Special Projects

• Serve as a senior resource and mentor to more junior members of the accounting team.
• Work with the President and senior management on special projects and evolving priorities.
• Assist with projects involving new entities, investments, banking relationships, systems, and other family-office initiatives.
• Take ownership of projects from inception through completion and provide ongoing follow-up.
• Be willing to step into areas outside of traditional accounting responsibilities as needed in a dynamic family-office environment.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• 15+ years of relevant accounting experience.
• Sage Intacct experience required.
• Strong multi-entity accounting and financial reporting experience.
• Experience working within a Single Family Office, Multi-Family Office, high-net-worth wealth management organization, or similarly complex private-wealth environment preferred.
• Financial services background preferred.
• Experience working with LLCs, partnerships, investment entities, and complex family structures.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, general ledger accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, cash management, and month-end close processes.
• Experience with treasury, banking, capital calls, distributions, and investment-related activities highly desirable.
• CPA a plus.
