Title: Senior Accountant

Location: Radnor, PA (Fully in-office)

The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the organization’s accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls within the mortgage insurance and financial services industry. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial data, supports the close process, and contributes to regulatory compliance efforts. The Senior Accountant provides analytical insight, supports audits, and preparation and filing of the SEC and statutory reports.

As a dynamic and resourceful professional, we will rely on you to perform the following duties:

  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for the general ledger.
  • Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of financial statements and other internal financial reports including related workpapers. Assist in the preparation and filing of all required regulatory and other external financial reports in accordance with GAAP, SEC, and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Manage the preparation of the monthly closing binder containing the Company’s monthly balance sheet account reconciliations. Maintain strong internal controls in the accounting department, including reconciliation of key accounts to support sub-ledger or detail. 
  • Perform variance analysis and provide actionable insights to management.
  • Support internal and external audit processes, including preparation of documentation and responses to auditor inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with insurance regulations and company accounting policies.
  • Identify and implement processes to improve the monthly accounting close process to enhance efficiency and strengthen internal controls through technology and process enhancements.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and operational alignment.
  • Serve as resource and peer mentor to staff accountants, co-ops, and interns. Including training, troubleshooting, and conducting first-level reviews.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or progress toward CPA preferred
  • 3+ years of accounting experience within financial services, mortgage insurance, insurance, or public accounting
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and general ledger accounting.
  • Knowledge of SEC reporting, SOX controls, and regulatory frameworks including GSE (PMIERs) and statutory accounting (SAP). 
  • Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements, consolidations, and regulatory filings.
  • Advanced analytical skills with strong attention to detail and ability to resolve complex accounting issues. 
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present financial information to executive leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient with Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience working with enterprise accounting systems and driving process improvements through automation and technology.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively across departments to support organizational objectives.
