Senior Accountant II

Position Summary

Spectrum Vision Partners is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Accountant II to join our growing Accounting team. This role is responsible for maintaining the general ledger, preparing accurate financial reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and supporting monthly and year-end close activities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Schedule: Full-Time, Hybrid (Garden City, NY) – In office Tuesdays and Thursdays; remote on remaining business days, subject to business needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Prepare and post monthly journal entries in accordance with GAAP.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts, including accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accounts.
• Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare account analyses, schedules, and supporting documentation.
• Record payroll-related journal entries, including bonuses, commissions, and benefits accruals.
• Reconcile payroll, benefits, and payroll tax accounts.
• Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Analyze financial statements and identify trends, variances, and opportunities for operational improvement.
• Utilize advanced Microsoft Excel functions (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, formulas, etc.) to analyze financial data.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing requested schedules and documentation.
• Assist the Controller and Accounting Manager with special projects, process improvements, tax support, and other ad hoc assignments.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial and organizational information.
• Stay current on accounting standards and industry best practices through continuing education and professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience required.
• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and financial reporting.
• Experience with ERP or accounting software preferred.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
