Senior Accountant

Senior Accountant | Direct-to-Consumer Insurance Services | Fort Lee, NJ 

We're working with a leading direct-to-consumer insurance services business on the hire of a Senior Accountant. This is a growing, fast-paced organisation with a team of over 3,000 professionals, specialising in the distribution of Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, and Life & Supplemental insurance policies.

This is a forward-facing role within the accounting team, reporting directly to the Controller. You'll take ownership of the month end close for your assigned lines of business and work closely with business leaders across the company, so it suits someone who wants more than heads-down reporting. Revenue recognition sits at the heart of the role, alongside the chance to shape process and influence how the numbers are read and acted on.

What you'll be doing:

• Leading month end close for your lines of business, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement prep
• Owning revenue recognition in line with GAAP
• Analysing financial metrics and revenue trends, then presenting that analysis to business leadership
• Reviewing insurance carrier data, including contracts, commissions, and policy activity
• Partnering with the wider accounting team on consolidated reporting
• Improving close procedures, workflows, and internal controls, and supporting external audit

What we're looking for:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a first experience in public accounting
• Strong GAAP and revenue recognition knowledge
• Advanced Excel
• NetSuite experience and a CPA are both a plus
• Someone who can operate independently, bring genuine curiosity, and communicate clearly with people outside of finance

The detail:

• Salary $95K-$110K plus a 10% bonus
• Hybrid, two days a week in the Fort Lee office (Tuesdays and Thursdays)
