HHM Talent is assisting a client search for a Senior Manager in South Pittsburg, TN.
This position has a hybrid schedule: 3-4 days in office a week.
Position Overview
The Senior Accountant will support the company's day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting processes. This position will be responsible for maintaining the general ledger, preparing journal entries and account reconciliations, assisting with month-end close, and reviewing the work completed by temporary accounting staff.
This is an individual contributor position and will not have direct reports. The Senior Accountant will, however, provide guidance to temporary accountants and review their work for accuracy and completeness.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Prepare and review journal entries
- Complete balance sheet and general ledger account reconciliations
- Maintain accurate and complete general ledger records
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements and internal financial reports
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies
- Review the work completed by temporary accounting staff
- Provide direction and answer accounting-related questions from temporary staff
- Ensure transactions are properly recorded and supported by appropriate documentation
- Assist with audit preparation and respond to audit requests
- Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other accounting functions as needed
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls
- Assist with additional accounting projects and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close
- Experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations
- Experience reviewing the work of other accounting professionals preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience working with accounting or ERP systems
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with the broader accounting team
Compensation
- $80,000–$90,000 annually, based on experience
