Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Accountant, Finance Systems, to join our finance team. This role primarily focuses on finance systems administration and process improvement while supporting key accounting responsibilities. The ideal candidate has 3 – 5 years of progressive accounting experience and hands-on experience implementing, supporting, or optimizing an ERP system, preferably Sage Intacct or NetSuite.
This individual will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting while driving automation and continuous improvement across finance operations. We are looking for someone who will help transform the accounting function while performing senior accountant-level responsibilities. The ideal candidate enjoys solving problems, leveraging technology to eliminate manual processes, and partnering with colleagues to build efficient, scalable accounting processes.
Duties/Responsibilities
Finance Systems & Process Improvement
- Serve as a primary resource for the organization's ERP system, including ongoing administration, configuration, testing, and user support.
- Design integrations between the ERP system (once implemented) and operations systems, including Fonteva, ADP, and Ramp.
- Participate in ERP implementations, upgrades, integrations, and optimization projects.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual accounting processes and improve workflow efficiency.
- Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and system-generated financial information.
- Lead adoption of new finance processes by communicating changes, supporting users, and promoting best practices.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), process maps, and system documentation to ensure consistent, scalable finance operations.
- Partner with internal departments to improve business processes through technology.
- Document accounting procedures and system workflows to strengthen internal controls and ensure consistency.
- Evaluate new technologies and recommend solutions that improve productivity and data quality.
Accounting Operations
- Assist with full-cycle accounting including journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis.
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries.
- Perform account reconciliations and maintain supporting documentation.
- Process and oversee accounts payable transactions.
- Manage accounts receivable, customer invoicing, collections, and cash application.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
- Prepare monthly financial reports and supporting schedules.
- Ensure accounting records comply with GAAP and organizational policies.
- Support annual financial statement audits and other compliance reporting by preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests.
Skills/Qualifications
Required
- Strong understanding of GAAP and the monthly close process.
- Experience supporting, implementing, or administering an ERP system.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with ERP implementations, data migrations, or system integrations.
- Experience with Sage Intacct, NetSuite, or other ERP systems.
Preferred
- Experience designing automated workflows and improving accounting processes.
- Knowledge of reporting tools, business intelligence platforms, or data visualization software.
- Experience in a nonprofit organization is a plus.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3 - 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- CPA preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
