Position Summary
Energy Transport Logistics is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to support the day-to-day accounting operations of a growing logistics company. The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, maintaining balance sheet schedules, and ensuring the accuracy of the general ledger. This role plays a key part in the month-end close process and helps maintain strong internal controls and compliance with U.S. GAAP.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, payroll, and other recurring entries.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
- Maintain fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, and capital expenditure tracking.
- Maintain lease accounting schedules and related journal entries.
- Analyze general ledger accounts and investigate unusual variances.
- Prepare bank reconciliations and assist with cash reconciliations.
- Assist with intercompany reconciliations and transactions.
- Prepare supporting schedules for external audits and tax filings.
- Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policies.
- Assist in documenting and improving accounting procedures and internal controls.
- Support ERP system enhancements, testing, and process improvements.
- Partner with operations and other departments to resolve accounting-related issues.
- Perform other accounting duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
- 3–6 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience in transportation, logistics is preferred.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Sage Intacct or similar ERP system preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
