Senior Accountant

POSITION SCOPE:

We have an exciting opportunity for a detail oriented Senior Accountant located in our headquarters location in Beaverton, MI. The Senior Accountant is responsible for financial statement preparation and reporting for our manufacturing plant locations, with a strong emphasis on cost accounting. This role maintains the integrity of the general ledger system to produce regular and custom reporting for management, while also responding to requests for financial data from external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate has strong technical accounting expertise, required experience in cost accounting, and familiarity working in a manufacturing environment. This individual can work independently as well as collaboratively across departments.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. Prepare accurate and timely financial statements on a monthly and yearly basis in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
2. Reconcile and balance the general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts monthly.
3. Initiates and enters journal entries.
4. Updates and distributes the job cost report.
5. Assists in cash flow and financial forecasting.
6. Review intercompany balances monthly.
7. Review costing in system.
8. Manage daily cycle counts.
9. Initiates all payments in system and submits for approval by controller and CFO.
10. Maintains daily inventory level reports for management.
11. Provides a variety of administrative functions and works on special projects for management. 
12. Reconcile expense reports.
13. Manages the credit card program.
14. Assist with year-end audit request.
15. Assist in the completion of annual operating budget.

 EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS: 

1. A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or equivalent 5 years of related work experience.
2. Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general accounting systems
4. ERP system experience – Epicor preferred.
5. Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
6. Effective written and verbal communication skills
7. A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work legally in the United States on a permanent basis. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position. 

ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
• Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
