Job Overview: This position is primarily responsible for the preparation and analysis of financial records, including journal entries, account reconciliations, cost and margin analyses, and audit support. The position is part of a small team of accountants and other finance personnel, collaborating to provide financial and accounting support to the business.
Duties and Responsibilities General & Financial Accounting
Assist with monthly closing activities to ensure that financial statements and general ledgers are closed timely and accurately Prepare various month end journal entries & reconciliations in accordance with policies and timelines Collaborate with team members to streamline processes and improve efficiency Responsible for fixed assets: including additions, disposals, or transfers Responsible for lease accounting: including additions, disposals or transfers
Manufacturing & Cost Accounting
Review Bill of Materials and routings Monitor inventory transactions, including receipts, scrap, cycle count adjustments, and cost changes Review manufacturing variances including PPV, IPV, labor and overhead absorption Support product costing, margin analysis, balance sheet & income statement analytics and forecasting Assist with physical inventories
Tax Accounting & Compliance
Assist with sales and use tax returns, property tax data collection, and other required state/local tax documents Ensure tax compliance, including Sales Tax Exemption certificates, W9 and vendor documents
Business Partnering
Partner with Operations, Sales, Supply Chain, Distribution Provide ad-hoc analytics to support decision-making Identify areas to improve processes and strengthen internal controls
Audit & Compliance
Assist with performance of various SOX compliance procedures Support internal and external audits
SPQ – Skills, Profile & Qualifications
Skills
Attention to detail, ability to analyze financial data, recognize errors and implement corrections Superior written and oral communication skills Knowledge of PC spreadsheets and database applications (Microsoft Excel, Power BI, SQL, and OneStream preferred) Overall comprehensive understanding of business processes, with manufacturing experience preferred
Profile
Highly motivated, self-starter with good analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently Collaborative partner to Sales, Operations and Supply Chain Comfortable operating in a multi-entity environment
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, with 4+ years of related experience Experience in manufacturing environment, with cost accounting, and SOX compliance Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems, Syspro ERP a plus Graduate Degree, CPA, or CMA Preferred, but not required
