Payroll Specialist-Tampa Fl

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to manage complex payroll processing and ensure accurate, timely, and compliant employee payments. The role involves handling payroll adjustments, resolving discrepancies, applying union labor contract pay rules, and performing payroll reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and validate bi-weekly payroll, employee hours, and pay adjustments.
• Handle retroactive pay, wage corrections, garnishments, deductions, final pay, and off-cycle checks.
• Apply payroll policies and union contract provisions (ATU and Teamsters).
• Review payroll registers and resolve discrepancies before payroll processing.
• Perform payroll-to-GL reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Manage garnishment setups and changes in ADP.
• Prepare payroll reports, check requests, and audit documentation.
• Support year-end payroll activities and tax reporting.
• Maintain confidentiality of employee payroll and personal information.
• Provide payroll guidance and support to employees and payroll staff.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, HR, or related field.
• 2–4 years of payroll, accounting, HR, or timekeeping experience.
• Experience processing complex payroll transactions with high accuracy.
• Strong data entry, reconciliation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage deadlines and handle confidential information.
• Good written and verbal English communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in a unionized work environment.
• Hands-on experience with ADP Payroll or Trapeze.
• Knowledge of ATU and Teamsters labor contracts.
