The Payroll Administrator is responsible for supporting all aspects of complex payroll operations while also assisting with accounts payable and broader accounting functions. This role ensures accurate and compliant payroll processing, supports financial reporting requirements, and provides cross-functional assistance within the Accounting Department and other departments as needed. This position plays a key role in maintaining financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and responsive internal customer service in alignment with Suburban Automotive Services’ DRIVEN values and SAS mission and vision. Salary Overview:The salary for this role starts at $60,000-65,000 per year based on experience.

Hours: The hours for this role are Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm.

Payroll Administrator Responsibilities Include:

Process and reconcile weekly payroll including hours and earnings, statutory and voluntary deductions, garnishments, 401(k), terminations, and final paychecks. Update and reconcile payroll balance sheets on a weekly and bi-weekly basis. Enter and maintain accurate employee data including new hires, terminations, rate changes, tax updates, and address changes. Review weekly hours submitted from field offices to ensure compliance with Department of Labor (DOL) regulations and corporate financial standards. Prepare payroll-related reports to meet legislated requirements and internal company needs. Manage the Payroll Help Desk and respond promptly to field office questions or concerns. Certify payroll billing information as required. Assist with accounts payable functions including invoice review, coding, entry, processing, and reconciliation. Support vendor inquiries and ensure timely and accurate payment processing. Assist with month-end close activities as needed. Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives within the Accounting Department. Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll and financial information. Work effectively under time constraints to meet payroll and accounting deadlines. Adhere to Suburban Automotive Services’ DRIVEN values and align business practices to support the SAS mission and vision.

Payroll Administrator Qualifications and Skills:

Ability to read, write, and speak English. Proven consistent work history. Minimum 2–3 years of experience working with payroll and time recording systems. Experience with accounts payable or general accounting functions preferred. Knowledge and understanding of payroll, tax, and labor regulations and requirements. Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy. Excellent time management, organizational, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to proactively support field office staff and interact with all levels of employees. Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and payroll/timekeeping software; experience with Dayforce is preferred. Self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively. Professional demeanor with strong communication skills. Must meet company background check and drug screen requirements.
