Our client in Toronto, ON is actively looking for a Payroll Administrator to join their team
The Payroll Administrator will work closely with the Finance and Accounting team and report directly to the Vice President of Finance and Administration. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:
Key Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Become familiar with and adapt to company's payroll processing and time and attendance software to process payroll for a large group of employees accurately and in a timely manner.
- Process new hires, terminations, employee changes, and other payroll adjustments on an ongoing basis between payroll cycles.
- Maintain and update employee files in an organized, accurate, and methodical manner.
- Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive employee, personal, and payroll information.
- Understand applicable union dues and benefit programs, ensure appropriate payroll deductions are processed, and reconcile and prepare remittances for such dues and benefits.
- Provide accurate and timely payroll information and reports in response to internal requests.
- Analyze and resolve payroll discrepancies and address employee inquiries or issues arising from such discrepancies.
- Follow established approval protocols and ensure payroll processes comply with applicable Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) regulations.
- Be available to provide training and assistance with other office and accounting functions related to payroll, as required.
- Experience with data entry and invoice processing is considered an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
- Strong team player with a collaborative and positive attitude.
- 2–5 years of payroll processing experience, including a strong understanding of basic payroll deductions, processing Records of Employment (ROEs) and T4s, and employee hiring and termination procedures.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills, with the ability to work accurately with large volumes of data.
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel.
