License And Compliance Staff Accountant

POSITION SUMMARY: This position reports directly to the Compliance & Property Tax Manager. This position will work with the Compliance & Property Tax Manager to account for and facilitate Company licenses for ancillary departments, as well as other entities as needed. The license area is a highly critical area in keeping all companies compliant and operational. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Licenses/Compliance: The License Tax Accountant will work with the filing of license applications, license renewals, and tracking of various departmental and company licenses. Departmental Coordinator: The License Tax Accountant will coordinate and facilitate various departmental and retail location license audits, identifying licenses that are facilitated offsite from the corporate environment, as well as obtaining copies of said licenses and maintaining them in the company License Pro database. Bi-Weekly Reporting: The License Tax Accountant will process expiration reports from company database on a bi-weekly schedule, reporting to the License Compliance Manager to determine what needs additional assistance or resources. License Software: Works with daily, being responsible for utilizing and maintaining the license software, License Pro, to have a functioning, accurate and up to date database. Budgets: This position will assist in preparing the license renewal portion of annual budgets for all entities related to the Tax & License areas. Communicator/Bridge Builder: The License Tax Accountant position will spend a large portion of time communicating with operations personnel (store managers, department heads, fellow licensing Outfitters, etc.) as well as government officials and should be able to build ongoing and positive working relationships. Project Management: Managing simultaneous projects with overlapping deadlines. Ability to coordinate multiple individuals working concurrently to achieve completion of license renewals. This is a critical component of the license/compliance work. Property Tax: The License Tax Accountant will, at times, assist with the preparation and filing of personal property tax returns. SKILS and QUALIFICATIONS: Strong accounting skills. Must have an accounting degree. Preferred two years of accounting and general ledger experience. Expert in Excel. Both spreadsheet and word processing skills required. Comfortable doing due diligence and research on the internet. Extremely organized. Managing simultaneous projects and overlapping deadlines. Ability to coordinate multiple individuals working concurrently to achieve completion of license renewals. This is a critical component of the license/compliance work. Manage several different tasks at once. Track multiple deadlines. Self-motivated and takes initiative. Excellent soft/people skills to work with internal and external contacts. Will work with multiple people throughout the organization, as well as many government officials, some of which can be challenging. This is a highly critical skillset for this position. Must be trustworthy and of good character. Works with extremely confidential & sensitive data. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: N/A PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Regular computer work and sitting. Occasional walking and standing. INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT : Performs tasks and duties under general supervision, using established procedures and innovation. Chooses from limited alternatives to resolve problems. Occasional independent judgment is required to complete work assignments. Often makes recommendations to work procedures, policies, and practices.
