Requirements Job Overview The Financial Analyst manages post-award financial operations for an assigned portfolio of sponsored projects. Key responsibilities include account setup, budget maintenance, billing, financial reporting, and award closeout. Working under general supervision, the Analyst interprets relevant federal, sponsor, and institutional regulations to provide guidance to faculty and staff on grant compliance. Additionally, the Analyst contributes to special projects and process improvements as assigned. Work Interactions The Financial Analyst reports directly to the Manager, Sponsored Projects Accounting and Reporting. The Analyst also works daily with Principle Investigators, Grant Managers, Department Administrators, the Office of Sponsored Projects, the Office of Research Services, as well as federal agencies, other government organizations, and private sponsors. Impact Accurate invoicing and collections directly relates to revenue recognition and ongoing cash position. Errors or lateness of reports, invoices, or other transactions can directly result in lost revenue. Audit comments and findings are disseminated to all agencies doing business with the University and accordingly, current as well as prospective funding can be impacted. Negative findings can and do result in projects not being funded or funding being reduced. Fines or fees may result in delinquent or erroneous reporting. Failure to comply with Federal regulations can result in various negative impacts to the University. Agency audits that identify unallowable costs or incorrect reporting can result in repayment of funds with fines and interest. Requirements and Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. 1 year of experience in accounting, financial analysis, or sponsored research administration. Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certification: Solid understanding of general accounting principles, ledger reconciliation, and financial analysis. Intermediate-to-advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to analyze, reconcile, and present complex financial data. Demonstrated knowledge and skills in computerized financial software. Demonstrated understanding of research administration processes. Knowledge of OMB Uniform Guidance [2 CFR 200] and its predecessors OMB Circulars A-110, A-21, A-133, A-122; FAR, PHS Guidelines, DS2 regulations, private agency guidelines, costing principles, and University procedures. Other Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. Good mathematical and Excel skills Effective interpersonal, collaboration, and customer-service skills. Work Mode Designation This position has been designated as Hybrid . Pay Range: The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $44,022.00 - $73,406.80 Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
