AECOM Canada is seeking a motivated and analytical Financial Analyst to join our Finance Development Program in a new position to be based in Markham, ON . This role is designed for recent graduates who are interested in building a career in finance, project accounting, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), and business operations. Through a structured rotational experience, the successful candidate will gain exposure to financial planning, project financial management, internal controls, and operational finance processes while supporting some of Canada's largest infrastructure and professional services projects. This role will work closely with Finance Managers, Project Accounting teams and FP&A professionals to help drive financial performance across AECOM 's Canadian businesses and provides a unique opportunity to develop technical, analytical, and business partnering skills while learning the fundamentals of project-based financial management. What You Will Learn Throughout the program, the Finance Graduate will gain practical experience in: Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Operational Finance & Business Partnering Working Capital Management Financial Forecasting & Budgeting Project Finance Business Intelligence & Data Analytics Executive Reporting Professional Services and Infrastructure Project Economics Internal Controls, Compliance & Governance Key Responsibilities Financial Planning & Analysis Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, business planning, and outlook submissions. Develop and enhance management reports, dashboards, and financial analysis tools. Analyze financial and operational performance trends and provide actionable insights. Assist with automation initiatives and continuous process improvements using financial systems and reporting tools. Support ad hoc reporting, variance analysis, and special projects. Project Accounting & Financial Operations Manage a portfolio of projects and support project financial administration activities. Assist Project Managers and Finance teams with project setup, maintenance, invoicing, and revenue recognition processes. Monitor project performance, profitability, backlog, unbilled receivables, and cash collection metrics. Support month-end close activities and project financial reviews. Learn project accounting fundamentals and gain exposure to the full project lifecycle from project setup through project closeout. Finance Team Support Support Project Accounting Managers with recurring weekly and monthly processes. Assist with: P&L Proforma reviews Consolidated percentage-of-completion reporting Accounts receivable and Unbilled reserve analysis ODC accrual reviews R18 and project financial review processes Prepare analysis and supporting schedules for management review. Internal Controls, Compliance & Governance Participate in maintaining compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Support activities related to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and internal control requirements. Assist with documenting and improving financial processes and controls. Contribute to ensuring accuracy, transparency, and accountability in financial reporting and business practices. Required Qualifications Recent university graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline. Preferred Qualifications Working toward CPA designation or interest in pursuing CPA. Internship, co-op, or relevant work experience in finance, accounting, consulting, engineering, or professional services is an asset. Preferred Skills & Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Advanced Excel skills and an aptitude for data analysis. Interest in financial modelling and business performance management. Well-developed interpersonal, presentation and communication skills including a proven ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of AI and Business Intelligence tools.   Relocation is not available for this position.
